Voyager of the Seas

OVERVIEW: In terms of sheer size, this ship presently dwarfs many others in the cruise industry, but in terms of personal service, the reverse is the case, unless you happen to reside in one of the top suites. This is impersonal city life at sea.

Thomson Celebration

OVERVIEW: This ship suits adult couples and singles taking their first or second cruise, seeking a modern but not glitzy ship, a middle-of-the-road lifestyle, and food and entertainment that’s not fancy. It is exclusively chartered by Thomson Cruises, so most passengers will be British, typically ov

Great cruise. Flew from Gatwick. No real problems, although arrived at ship about 45 minutes late. Then getting our room and card organised took about 15 minutes, which, after a long day travelling, seemed an annoying wait. The room itself was good- level 6...  Read More >>

Question

Report
I am in a bit of a confusion.
I would like to book a cruise for my family of 5 people.
Which is the cheapest way of doing it? Would it be to get two connecting interior suites or a family suite (although I cant find any information on how many a family suite sleeps).

I am very keen to book the Italian Riviera 5 night cruise.
Any information would be gladly appreciated.

I've only been on one cruise so don't take my word as gospel. We're a family of 5 and we were on RCI Navigator of the Seas. We took one of the outside family rooms. They were very large. Two kids slept in bunk beds in a cordoned off area opposite the bathroom. The other slept in the sofa bed. There was a curtain between the sofa bed and the main bed so we could put the kids to bed and then keep the bedise lights on to read. Only slight drawback was the TV was opposite the sofa bed as opposed to the main bed. But the room was large and comfortable. This year we're trying two balcony cabins next to each other on P&O - it will be interesting to see which option is better...

Wilba is correct in order for you to establish the prices you need to speak to an agent as the RCI web site can only cope with 4 pax. The Liberty has family cabins which range from insides and outsides upto suites. The insides are usually based on 6 pax but whatever the case is is you can all share the cabin then the first two pay adult fare the 3rd/4th/5th and 6th pay the reduced rate regardless of age. You have two options - see how much one of the family cabins are but alternatively you will sometimes find that you can get 2 gaurantee grade cabins at a really good price but remember that the first two in any cabin pay the full rate. So you would only get a reduction on the 5th person and you would have to make the booking on the basis of 1 adult and 2 children and 1 adult and 1 child but then sort out between you who was going in which cabin. Some of the last minute deals do actually make it cheaper for you to take the two cabins. You really will need to speak to a Travel Agent to get the definitive answer.

The family suites on Freedom Class ships are only bookable via a cruise agent, hence prices are not normally published. Phone the 0800 408 6200 to get a prices on both............Wilba
