We had an aft cabin on Costa Serena earlier this year and absolutely loved it although it did move about a bit but we did the Canaries from Savona in February so sea was a bit choppy!!! the only other downside was that we got quite a bit of vibration when the ship was docking/manoeuvering(?spelling) which was a bit annoying if it was early in the morning ...but the advantages far outweighed the disadvantages ...it is so relaxing to sit and watch the wake ...

Excellent location for sundowners with a G&T or cocktail. I can only support the previous comments from N & I and Aldrich. You will also benefit from having a fairly draught free balcony for all your sea time. Enjoy.

You obviously went for a Guarentee cabin, and as Neil says, you have got very lucky. Aft balconies are the best rooms on the ship - biggest balconies, no passing traffic. But, I have to warn you that at the back of this ship is the Superstructure which is a sort of framework which blocks your view direct down to the sea. It doesn't bother me. Here is a pic showing you what I mean. No one can walk on that area at the back so it is quite private. http://travel.webshots.com/photo/1069832571036355651MZiodD

I don't think that you realise that you have been extremely lucky. These aft cabins are some of the most sought after cabins on the ship with larger balconies and uninterrupted views. The drawbacks are that you have further to walk than amidships, there can be more movement up and down but it is not so noticeable on big ships and you can occasionally get smuts from the stack falling on the balcony so keep your eye on your whites. Apart from that I would swap a cabin on the hump for an aft cabin if they were of similar status. Well done.... Neil
