Ok, I am not sure how you were 'allocated' a room without your knowledge of the room number or where it was on the ship - any good T/A would discuss this with you, but that aside, there is no noise from the lifts - this is a brand new cruise ship. the lifts open inwards so the passengers walk out of the lift and then have to do a 180 degree turn to get to the corridor. You have a room on the 'hump' which is highly sought after so surprised this room was available. I have myself had a room in exactly the same location and did not hear a peep.

....Unless of course you booked a 'guarentee' cabin where the T/A should have explained to you that you have no say over what cabin you are given and the location. Either way you have got a great room and location IMHO.

I also booked last minute for October (next week) and was not given a cabin number by the T/A, all they could guarantee was that it would be a balcony cabin and RC would allocate and we were upgraded to a Junior Suite on Deck 10 aft portside, 4 cabins from the lift, which is great for us because my husband is recovering from a leg op and we wanted something close to the lifts and food areas as his walking is not great yet. So I guess it is a bit like last minute package where you are allocated on arrival only with a better outcome!

We always go nearest the lift/stairwell as it's less to walk & we've never experienced noise.

Make sure you both sign up for the meet&mingle then! Go to royalcaribbean.com - then customer support/faqs and under 'onboard' you will find instructions. RCI throw a party if more than 25 people register.

I would like to know where I can find a deck plan or elsewhere. As well as, figuring out what the alphabet has to do with the cabin catagories such as, H,H,I,L,M,N and Q.

All deck plans and descriptions of various staterooms categories can be viewed on the RCI website hope this helps.

Two nights on Indy..

By Alison Ranaldi

Last week I spent two nights on the newly revamped Independence of the Seas.We sailed from Southampton in glorious sunshine to Le Havre and back. This was my third time on board this ever-popular ship and I was keen to see the changes to her after a big refit. We had a balcony cabin on deck 9 which had everything we needed for a comfortable break. I’m not generally a fan of mini-cruises. They offer an excellent way for someone like myself to see the ships but I do not think they are a g...

Cunard are planning on relaxing their dress codes!!!Alot of Cunard customers are not very happy with the news of a relaxed dress code. Part of the beauty cruising with Cunard is all about dressing up for their formal evenings. Cunard have said that this is because they want to accommodate guests embarking and disembarking in destinations such as Rome, Venice, Barcelona and Athens. They said: Guests will be flying to meet the ship from all over the world and arrival times on board may vary.Bas...

Royal Princess

By Emily Watts

Emily Watts's blog

Last week I was lucky enough to experience Royal Princess which was also my first time on a Princess ship. It was everything I expected and more. as soon as we got on board I was impressed with the decor and the grandness, it really is a beautiful ship. Our cabin was located on Baja deck B215 which had a balcony and for two sharing it is very spacious. Princess prides themselves on the beds and it was probably one of the most comfortable ones I have ever slept on. After embarkation, we...
