We have just returned from the Baltic cruise on Aurora. We had a guaranteed cabin booked and were very pleased with the one we were allocated, just aft of midships on C deck and near a launderette which is useful on a long cruise. They guarantee the grade you want OR better.

Hi We have had guaranteed cabins on a number of occasions and been lucky to be in better cabins and even midships.

We had a guaranteed outside cabin on P&O at Easter and definitely got a much better cabin than we paid for. Although it was mid-ships (great!), the downside was that it was on A deck and we met several others on board with guaranteed cabins. all on A deck. Certainly not the deck I would choose. Might have been a coincidence but I wondered if maybe P&O firstly upgraded people on A-deck who paid full-fare then gave the A deck cabins to last-minute bookings lke us. It was under the Waterfall cafe and wasn't as noisy as we expected and thought overall we got a really good deal.

Did it on FO Balmoral last year and was plesently surprised with an upgrade to outside with picture window. We were also allocated first sitting dinner so we very impressed indeed! We realise we were lucky though - we only expected an inside in steerage.

If you have a "guaranteed cabin" you will not be given a cabin number until much closer to the sailing date and sometimes only when you embark. Normally you will be very happy with what is offered bearing in mind that you have chosen the category of the cabin and there are times when you could be up-graded. Bon Chance .... Neil
