This is not a upgrade it is for the cruise lines benifit not yours unless they they offer you a upgrade stay where you are ships tend to dock port side i myself prefere port side for that reaso.
Ships do not dock 'port side'. This is just a naming convention - ships can dock either port or starboard. Port side used to be called larboard which meant the side it was loaded from, but to avoid confusion between larboard and starboard the name was changed to 'port'. Here endeth the history lesson.
