Can not answer the plug type, but on every ship i have been on they have both the eurpoean round pin and the Us flat pin. regarding irons not allow big fire risk.
Its flat american ones i allways take my iron mick tell your wife it will be ok ive took my iron every year since 2003 but wrap it well up i put it in beach towel you dont have to take towels as you get them for pool and in your cabin for showers you get your cases put through scanner when they get taken off coach at dock side its spanish customs or police that do it your cabin steard will get your items ironed but it will be put on your account as you will be chared for it hope ive been helpfull you will enjoy your cruis.
As i say ive took mines every year suppose ive been lucky with my iron.
Travel irons are a fire hazard and are not to be used in your cabin.. it isn't worth the risk!
Irons get left on and the ship tends to catch fire and sink...that is why no travel irons.
