Q: We (the Good wife and myself) are to cruise on the Fred Olsen Balmoral for the first time in March for 25 nights from Rio to Southampton---We have an inside cabin on a 'Guaranteed basis' (not known til we board at Rio-after a 12 hour flight!!) so can anyone truthfully answer me this question-----Are there plenty of wardrobe space and even IF we get a Cabin--near the bows or near the stern---will they be good for stability--not too much swell-up and down in seas???? We have been told the Cabin will be on the Atlantic Deck. Thanks for your answers in advance. 4 answers

My wife and I will be joining you on deck 5 Atlantic deck in Rio. We have sailed with Fred Olsen in really rough seas and like all small ships you can get shook up a bit. 50 ft waves and 09 mph gale on one voyage and we were not allowed out on deck for three days because of the conditions but we all still enjoyed the experience. Plenty of space in the cabins and if you ask your steward for extra hangers it should not be a problem. I bet there will be around 80 to 90% of the passengers who have all sailed with Fred before.

I,too, have sailed several times on the "Balmoral" on Main, Atlantic and Coral decks and have had no problems with stability apart from the normal movement you get at sea. There was plenty of storage space in all the cabins I have occupied. I shall be leaving this ship in Rio as you board. I hope you have a great cruise.

I have sailed on Balmoral twice and have not had a problem with stability. One cabin was near to the bow and was on a higher deck than yours but felt very little movement. Regarding your guarantee cabin, if you look on line closer to the sail date or ring head office for Fred then they will probably be able to give you a specific cabin number. Fred have been quite generous recently with upgrades so fingers crossed for you..Carol
