The best balcony has to be one of those in the Grills accommodation, all well positioned but as high and as central as you can get. There is an interesting comment on 'sheltered balconies' in a review by 'Laing of Guernsey' dated 17 December. Having said all this, whatever you choose, remember that if you are going westbound the best views on entry to New York, from balconies or decks, will be from the Port side of the ship. Do not worry about rough seas, QM2 is designed for trans Atlantic and I'm positive you will enjoy every moment. Richard.

Neil & Ida Down - Answered a Question by Fields (18 Dec 08 14:18)

I'm with Richard, as usual, on this one and would also recommend the port side on the cruise to the USA not only for the views entering New York but also because if you use the Balcony you will get more sun as it faces south most of the time. Unfortunately many of the balconies have this high metal side which I found annoying. ..... Neil.

You don't mention what time of year you are crossing. We went over in nov 08, with a sheltered starboard balcony on deck 5. To be honest at that time of year I would make price my overiding concern anything you need to see can be viewed from deck and it is much better to be out and about when sailing into NY.

It's often cold on the north Atlantic, even in the summer, so personally I dodn't find a veranda very useful. The deck is free!

Do You Have A Bucket List?

By Gail Ryan

Gail Ryan's blog

Do you have a bucket list? If so, what’s on it?Until a few years ago I don’t think I had ever heard this term, had you? I think my first recollection was when I watched a film starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman about two characters that fate brings together in a hospital room and they discuss the things they want to do before they die. There are loads of thing that you can have on your list – it does necessarily have to be about holidays, but I think the majority of ...
