Aldrich... thank you very much for th insight into room service. this will be our first time at cruising, so are not all that familiar with the idea of room service, but it would appear that it is made use of far more frequently on board ship than it is in a hotel on dry land. Guess I will just have to get used to the idea of being waited on :-.

Neil and Ida Down - Answered a Question by overton (28 Apr 08 15:27)

Celebrity's ships do not have this facility in general so I doubt that it will be introduced on Solstice. Your options, should you wish to accept them, are: order it from room service, possibly as a permanent arrangement, go up to the Windjammer and bring it back yourself or send your spouse to do it for you, or take a flask with you and fill it as the whim takes you and sup it in the same manner. This tape will self-destruct sometime.... Nei.

BLYTH - Answered a Question by overton (29 Apr 08 19:51)

My wife likes a cup of coffee forst thing so we always carry our own little kettle works of the 240v supply available on all Celebrity ships. The problem is certain countries do have strict regualations taking on tea bags or coffee, so you would need to check first. On Celebrity ships at the area where tea and coffee is dispensed there are variuos type of tea baga on offer. As far a water is concerned you get a bucket of ice every evening and if it is not all used is safe to use in the morning for making your coffee/tea, so long as you make sure you boil the water.

Blyth - you are not allowed to take kettles onboard Celebrity ships - they are a fire hazard. Please do not do so in future and please do not encourage others to break the rules. The guest conduct policy clearly states this "Prohibited Items Items with Heating Elements or Open Flames Certain items that generate heat or produce an open flame are not permitted on ship. This includes clothing irons, hotplates, candles, incense and any other item that may create a fire hazard. (Curling irons and hair dryers are allowed.)" To Mr/Ms Overton, you order your morning cuppa from room service. They usually ring to tell you they are on their way, so it serves as a wake up call as well.

Aldrich, you are right because I have been on Celebrity -also the same applies on Carnival because when you have the fire drill they tell you about electrical items which you can use and which you cannot use. I took my portable kettle and iron and I certainly did not use them after I heard that they can cause. If you have a good husband like mine perhaps he can go and get you a cup of tea in the morning.

LACEY - Answered a Question by overton (09 May 08 08:10)

I'm sailing on the Solstice next February and will be disappointed if these facilities are not provided. Every cabin on Ocean Village has them and its hardly in the same class.

Your quite right, Solstice is not in the same class as Ocean Village so on Solstice you can expect tip top state room service .. your paying all this money to be pampered why on earth do you want to be doing the caravan/ camping thing.. sit back for goodness sake and be spoilt you will have plenty of time to brew your own cupper within hours of returning home.

Holmes - Answered a Question by overton (09 May 08 17:29)

We took our own kettle onto Celebrity Constellation (as we have on several other ships), and made our own tea with our own tea bags (yes despite their small print and Aldrich). In some 50 years of using a kettle, I haven't yet managed to set light to anything. A further tip may be :- when we found that all the cups on ship were small, we bought some mugs at the first stop and took them with us to breakfast/lunch etc for the rest of the cruise (much admired by other passengers!).
