Macchia - Answered a Question by Ryckman (23 Mar 08 21:50)

We are booked on the Amazara Quest 14 day Italian tour the end of April. We are wondering what the speciality restuarants on board are like. One of the ports of call is Florence...Since we are docked overnight we were thinking of getting a room in Florence since it's a distance from the port. Any suggestions regarding this would be greatly. Submitted: Andy and Irene Macchia, Crystal Lake, IL .

The suites on the stern of the ship are wonderful and give so much space and great for a small party too. The only downside apart from a little more movement in stormy weather is that you occasionally get smuts from the stack falling so don't leave clothes that you value out there. I would think that if this is your first cruise air transportation would be advisable and if possible fly in a couple of days early to get the jet-lag out of the way and enjoy a bit of Rome or wherever. We are on Quest later this year and really love the style shape and ambiance of the ship as I am sure you will. One word of warning ...watch out for pick-pockets and bag-snatchers on foot and scooter all over Italy....Nei.

We are people that enjoy a cup of tea in the morning and do not like having to call (or pay) for room service to bring it. I am frequently being asked if there is a kettle in the cabin and it is only really the British C...

Port Or Starboard? Whats t...

I wish I had a pound for every time I have been asked this question. I could have sailed around the world in Luxury! Aah yes! but would I choose Port or Starboard for my cabin? Or left side versus the right side of the ship?I suppose it depends on where you’re headed. I know that quite a few seasoned cruisers swear by the Starboard side. Although it really depends on what type of cruise you are on.For instance, if you are sailing in one direction, North or West generally people pr...

My NON cruise holiday this Easter.

By Haydn Jones

I’ve just come back from a family Easter holiday to Spain, surprisingly not on a cruise this time. My children are of the age where we have to go away during school holidays. We decided on Benalmadena, Spain as we have been before , its not too far, and the boys love it there. The weather was absolutely glorious, we were so lucky this time of year to have 10 days of boiling sunshine. Benalmdena is a town on southern Spain’s Costa del Sol, known for its beaches and the modern Pue...
