Find Your Cruise
P&O offer a large range of spirits delivered to your cabin at around £12 for I litre or £1.75 for beers and lagers-this was cheaper than most of the prices ashore. However they charge £1.70 each for 100mls for schwepes tonic which is dearer than the gin! They deliver every day and do special offers on the last day at sea.-Phil.
We have travelled on Arcadia for the last 3 years and had no problem with buying wine and taking back to cabin.
We too have taken drink back on board especially from Gibraltar where it is so cheap. There were four of us in the party all adults and we all brought alcohol back on board and not just wine. We also brought bottles of water back on board from Corfu because they were so cheap. 6 x 1.5 or 2 litre bottles for something like 2 euros. How cheap is that!! Obviously if you have had a skinful while on shore and then go back on board the worse for drink you may well have it taken away from you but I have done 2 cruises with P&O and have never seen anyone have their alcohol taken from them. Some cruise ships do though, and they return it to you on your last night of the cruise. By the way usually on the following day of the start of your cruise they sell wines, beers and spirits on board a lot cheaper. We usually buy Vodka and a litre of Smirnoff (Red label) was £8 (2006 prices)which I think is very reasonable. Most spirits (gin, vodka, bacardi and I think whisky) were the same price. I hope this helps you. Happy Cruising!!
We cruised on P & O Oceana in Nov 06 around the carribean. We bought alcohol in many ports and never had a problem taking it on board. They x-ray your bags and purchases when boarding, but they never confiscated anything. We enjoyed many hours sat on our balcony enjoying peach shnapps straight from our fridge. Your cabin chappie will make sure your ice bucket is full each day if you ask. Nothing ever too much trouble. Happy cruising.
