Crystal Symphony

OVERVIEW: Crystal Symphonyis best suited to discerning adult travelers, typically over 50, who seek contemporary ship surroundings, with fine-quality fittings and furnishings, a wide range of public rooms and facilities, and excellent food and service.

Grand Princess

OVERVIEW: WhetherGrand Princessprovides a genuinely relaxing holiday is a moot point, but with many choices and ‘small’ rooms to enjoy, it is an extremely well designed ship – particularly for families with children. The odds are that you’ll have a fine time, in a controlled, well-packaged way.

Decided to try NCL as we were thinking of using them for Hawaii next year and saw a cheap deal going to lots of ports we'd never visited in Europe, so my husband and I thought we would give them a go. Glad we did, as this has stopped us from making a mistake...  Read More >>

you have alcohol taken from you when boarding the ship and returned to you on the morning of your departure, even bottles in your suitcase are shown up onthe x-ray machine and you will be asked to go to a certain part of the ship to open your case and hand over the bottle/s until the end of your cruise

Take aboard guns, drugs, explosives, child pornography, illegal immigrants. The crew will give you less grief than if you take alcohol aboard ;-)

NCL allow you to take wine on board - any size of bottle - no boxes - and charge $15 dollars per bottle. No spirits are allowed.

In a word - No. The faq's on their website states - "Sorry, but we do not allow guests to bring their own alcohol to drink on board. If you purchase alcohol ashore to take home with you, this should be given to the ship’s crew when you get back on board and it will be returned to you at the end of the cruise".

When we were boarding the Jade and at various ports we saw alcohol being taken off people as they searched any bags you were carrying. The only way to bring it onboard, a couple told us, is have it in your suitcase when you are boarding.

Buy a Box of wine, remove the plastic wine bag from inside the cardboard box and lay in the middle of your suitcase and for your morning coffee, take along a cup immersion heater and a jar of coffee, grab milk/sugar from buffet bar
