MSC like most lines 'confiscate' drinks purchased ashore & return them to your cabin on the last night. Having said that there was No Problem taking drinks packed in our cases on initial boarding. Ships Security do search shopping bags when arriving back on board after a day in port.

Have a look at the review by Szatter in Cruise Reviews here. According to their review they said'' Ship makes no issue of bringing own alcohol aboard and the Duty Free shop equally hands over cigs and alcohol as you purchase - very civilised.'' So it would seem that you can either take alcohol with you or buy it in their Duty Free shop (don't forget, DF shops are not open while the ship is docked so you won't be able to purchase any until the ship sets saiil!!! I have been on two different MSC ships and on one they didn't allow alcohol to be taken on board or to be purchased for immediate consumption, and yes, you guessed it! On the other they did!!! Seems like your luck is in with Orchestra so Happy Sailing!

It's not been allowed on other MSC ships we have been on. They don't give you the duty free you buy in the shop until you get off.

Cruised on MSC Orchestra in January and they sold spirits way below UK prices from their duty free shop which you then took away for consumption in your cabin.
