They have a small list of wines for your selection and you may not care for all of them - then it won't be worth your mone.

I was on the Serenna in Christmas, the drink package is much cheaper. Have you cruise with Costa before , if you are a Costa club member you get an extra 20% off the package price. If enjoy this cruise and want to cruise with Costa in the future do joint the Costa Club, it is free and you get discount on wine package in our future cruise.

There is quite alot of talk re this package which is called the X1 on the Costa Forums of a well known cruise crtic website. Personally I haven't purchased it as you are restricted to lunch times and the evenings and it is for beer and wine only. Think about it, you are only in the dining room for approx two hours in the evening. Also you have to think about whether you will be using the dining room at lunch time or will you be out on shore excursion. A glass of wine is around 4 euros plus the 15% service charge. A beer is between 4 and 5 euros if this helps you calculate ho much you would drink. Water is also free if you ask. Make sure you ask for a jug of iced water. There is nothing wrong with it and I have drunk the jug of iced water on all our Costa cruises.

GORDON - Answered a Question by hodgetts (03 May 08 18:22)

Yes it is great value. my husband and i were on the costa serena in feb and bought the X1 package. you can only buy it through your travel agent or if you booked direct, through costa. you have to buy it at least 3 weeks proir to travel and you pay for it when you buy it. it includes unlimited bottled water, cans of fizzy juice, red or white wine and bottled beer when you are in the main resturant or buffet resturant, as long as they are still serving food. there is a grill bar just outside the main buffet resturant it is open till 4.30pm most days. it also houses a swimming pool/hot tub. we bought only one X1 package between us as you get 2 drinks per card!! in the resturant they either leave the bottle of wine or keep topping your glass up. i drink white wine and my husband red so we didn't have to have the same drink. it saved us a fortune and we are not big drinkers. you cannot use it at any of the bars but if there is an outside buffet you can order from the roving waiters.hope you enjoy your cruise, we did. just remember it is an italian ship. it is over the top decor wise, the europeans dont stand in line and english is spoken last. the pasta and pizza are to die for. the ship is very clean.
