Royal Caribbean’s own ‘Perfect’ Islands Are Announced

I guess when you book a cruise you generally think about what you’re going to do at the ports you stop at & how life will be on board the ship. Even cruise lines appreciate the fact that we want to get on dry land at some point and don’t necessarily want to be on an excursion, taking in culture and rushing around trying to see as much as possible in the time allocated in the ports.

A few cruise lines have their very own islands (or in some cases own part of one) where the ships stop to offer more of a beach day where you can chill next to the sea or get involved in some of the many beach activities. Royal Caribbean have one such island called CocoCay in the Bahamas which they are about to spend $200 million developing, calling it ‘Perfect Day’. They are adding a big 13 slide waterpark, the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean, Oasis Lagoon, a 1,600-foot zip line and a helium balloon which floats up to 450 feet above the ground. They will also have the Coco Beach Club which has over-water cabanas for hire and a stunning infinity pool plus Captain Jack’s ‘swing up’ bar to chill out with a cold drink and snacks.

CocoCay is visited by ships that sail from Florida & New York & the Perfect Day concept is to be in place in November 2019, however RCI are also planning to introduce Perfect Day destinations in the Caribbean, Asia & Australia at some point in the future.

The thought of lying in a Cabana with the sound of water lapping around me sounds like heaven. I do, however, wonder whether you will have the same scramble to get the best sunbed spots on the beach as you do on board the ships on a sunny sea day??? Let’s hope they organise it well enough so that’s not the case. In my opinion this is a great idea. What do you think? For more info click here.
