Do Holiday, Hotel & Cruise reviews impact your booking choice?

For me YES, both as a consumer choosing my own holidays and as a travel agent when searching for customers holidays. I love the fact there is so much information and true traveller reviews at our fingertips.

There is a BUT coming!! You really need to be open minded when reading reviews because what is my cup of tea might not be yours. You can often find when reading a review the good ones tend to be honest and mention both good and bad points. The reviews I tend to skim past or don’t even bother reading nearly always start with The decor was old, There was a bug on the balcony!! Come on these things happen!!

I had a not so great experience a few years back with P&O.Luckily for me I was only on a 2 night mini cruise however the day we should have visited Bruges the weather was so bad we couldn’t even get on deck as they were all closed. I did also find everyone was in the pub and it was a struggle to find a seat. You then get those who are taking up seats reading their books. I don’t have an issue with this but when there are no seats available and people want to purchase drinks why not sit in your cabin and read your book?!!

So if you read a bad review would it put you off? Or would you take it with a pinch of salt and give it a go anyway?
