Holiday on the South Coast before cruising?

I have noticed more and more recently my customers are choosing to travel down to Southampton the day before their cruise and spending a night in a hotel before boarding the ship. This can be a great way to spend some time on the South Coast with so many great places to visit in the area why not start your holiday early?

Here are my top tips for visiting the area

1. Stonehenge
Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument located in Wiltshire around 30 miles from Southampton. Growing up around the area I have been lucky to visit Stonehenge on many occasions and even when you could stand right in the stones many years ago.

2. Test Valley area
This was where I grew up a little village just off the river Test. A great little area with some lovely villages, farm shops and fishing spots.

3. Bournemouth
Looking for some nightlife by the sea? Maybe you fancy a spot of sunbathing? Try one of the quieter spots at Mudeford

4. West Quay Southampton or Gunwharf Quays Portsmouth for shopping

5. New Forest – Maybe take a visit to the famous restaurant – The Pig.
There are lots of things going on in the New Forest throughout the year so be sure to check before you cruise and maybe you could be visiting the New Forest show or a fireworks spectacular?!

6. Peppa Pig World, Marewell Zoo or Winchester Planetarium
This is one for those of you with kids. I have to admit when I was a child we had season passes for Paultons Park – Now known as Peppa Pig World and I know my toddler would love a visit there!

So why not start your holiday early and spend a few nights in Hampshire before you cruise? If you live anywhere North like me im sure you will appreciate the warmer temperatures most of the time its at least 5 degrees warmer!
