Fred Olsen

This week we head off on our little 5 night cruise with Fred Olsen. This is a nice little treat with no flying and cruising from close to home. The ship departs from Newcastle and we are heading down on the train from Edinburgh. Its a nice easy journey that takes just 1 hour 30 mins. From here we will just hop on the Metro towards North Shields to get to the Port of Tyne.

We have 5 nights on board the Balmoral and having seen some recent photos of her refurbishment it looks like they have done a great job. The cruise itself just has a couple of stops and we have nothing planned. We will just get off the ship for a wander and to do our own thing. Charlie is coming with us and we plan to to take things slow and relax!

We have never cruised the Norwegian Fjords and love that on a small ship we can get up close and personal with the scenery. With so much scenic cruising we have chosen a balcony for the first time as we normally just stick to an inside.
