The Best Things To Do On Holiday In The Rain!

Living in the UK we really should be used to the rain but somehow we still expect summer to be at least half decent! This summer though has been particularly wet and I should know having already had 2 weeks on holiday in Norfolk and Aberdaron, Wales.

So what do you do if it rains on holiday – wherever in the world you are ? Here are a couple of suggestions.

First take the dog for a walk in your flip flops. Thornham, North Norfolk at the end of  June should be nice and it  is, but this year it rained for 3 days solid. Not expecting rain no wellies were packed, big mistake! Walk in trainers and they are wet for days with no way of drying out so I opted for my flip flops. Rowan and I walked for an hour along the coastal path. Yes my feet were wet but its only water and feet dry quickly . Just as we got back to the house we met a lady and her collie dog. We both looked at each others feet and said ” snap” – she had flip flops on too! Sensible idea I think.

Second – go for a swim. I could never quite understand when, working abroad, it started to rain and people got out of the pool or the sea. You`re wet anyway aren`t you so whats the point ? Mind you swimming in the sea in Aberdaron in the pouring  rain is not really my idea of fun.

Third – go to the pub for a drink or a nice meal. There is nothing nicer than being cosy and warm in a good pub when it is wet and miserable outside.

Fourth – sit back, relax, read a book, watch a movie – do anything you wouldn`t normally do, you are on holiday after all.

Last, but not least, you could plan your next holiday and if you did a cruise you would never be short of something to do, even if it rained all week.
