Why You Need To Change Your Opinion Of MSC Dining Options

Everyone loves a bit of cruise ship food. In fact, guests love it so much that for every week they cruise on average they’ll gain at least a pound!

Many passengers travel with their stomachs’ leading the way so with that in mind, we decided to find out exactly what the food is like on an MSC cruise.

Does the Mediterranean cuisine impress? Are the speciality options as good you’d hope? And what else can you feast upon on-board an MSC cruise? Well, read on to find out!

 

Main Dining Rooms

The main dining rooms on MSC don’t just serve up Italian! They offer a wide range of quality dishes that showcase both Mediterranean and international cuisine. Enjoy tastes of every nationality on-board and a range of dishes that change every day as well as the always available favourites.

It’s up to you how many courses you choose to indulge in but there will be the choice of a starter, salad, pasta, main and dessert at the very least! Examples of what you can eat include lobster bisque, prawn cocktail, fire roasted tomato soup, Dijon and herb crusted rack of lamb and molten chocolate cake.

Tex Mex

This speciality restaurant takes you into a world of Mexican food. Sip on strong and sharp strawberry margaritas whilst you work your way through a menu of enchiladas, fajitas, quesadillas and nachos. You can also sink your teeth into prime cuts of Angus beef and Italian Fiorentina steak. Just take a look at some of the spicy offerings below!

Galaxy Restaurant/ Kaito Sushi Bar

Several MSC ships feature the Galaxy restaurant which serves up a gastro journey through international cuisine as well as Japanese food. Dine on fresh seafood such as oysters and fusion dishes to set your taste buds alight.

In the evenings Galaxy restaurant also has a great ambience as it has stunning views, sparkling light fittings and an edgy fifties feel. There’s also a range of Galactic cocktails to try as well as traditional Japanese drinks such as plum wine and sake.

Kaito Sushi Bar serves up sushi, sashimi and tempura with Japanese flavoured teas and extensive speciality treats. Whether you prefer to stick to your Italian or taste food from another part of the world, you won’t be disappointed on MSC!

Yacht Club Dinner

The Yacht Club is exclusive to guests staying in its suites and the restaurant here is certainly something special! You’ll be able to fine any time and enjoy food that is expertly prepared in a very relaxed, intimate setting. The menu includes an extensive wine list with expert sommelier, fresh dishes such as risotto, braised lamb shank, a selection of fine cheese and delicious desserts. You’ll be spoilt rotten!

Our specialist cruise consultant Lee told us about his experience of Yacht Club food: “I chose 5 courses on this occasion finishing with the Italian Classic Tiramisu. One of the best I have had in fact every dish was delicious.” You can hear more from Lee about his time on-board MSC here!

Ristorante Italia

As you can probably guess, this restaurant showcases traditional Italian food! It serves an a la carte menu which is made with traditional culinary techniques and ingredients with many slow cooked foods and great wine pairings. Morsels include mini lasagne au gratin and for dessert, why not try chocolate mouse cake with hazelnut cream filling and crushed meringue?

The Buffet

There are 13 different stations to browse in the buffet as you choose your lunch and eat as much or as little as you like! Want to enjoy everything from pasta to curry, to carvery to salad all in one sitting? Feel free! You’ll be able to watch the chefs assemble the dishes in front of you whilst you tuck into bread, healthy options, pizza, desserts and much more.

Each section of the buffet is clearly labelled so you always know what you’re choosing, and there’ll also be a clear set of allergen advice so you’ll know you’ve chosen something that’s safe for you to eat. The buffet is also open for an impressive 20 hours a day so you can always catch a bite when hungry.

Room Service

The room service menu on MSC is available for you to be able to eat whatever time you get hungry! Enjoy a selection of sandwiches, wraps, salads, fruit platters and even pizza. In fact, MSC boast to have the best pizza at sea, so why not try it and find out?
