River cruise line Tauck has unveiled the names of two of its newest vessels that will be joining the line’s European fleet next year.
Following a company-sponsored naming contest, in which almost 400 Tauck employees submitted their entries, Grace and Joy were the two names that were decided on.
Dan Mahar, chief executive of Tauck, said: “These two names are wonderfully evocative of the emotional responses our guests have on our river cruises, both on and off our vessels.”
The new ships will form part of Tauck’s Inspiration-class fleet, adding to its existing vessels in this class, Inspire and Savor – and Espirit that will be joining this spring.
Grace and Joy will each have a 130-passenger capacity and bring Tauck’s fleet up to nine, marking a 125 per cent expansion in the line’s capacity since it launched back in 2013.
Initially, the fleet consisted of four Jewel-class vessels until the Inspiration-class ships were created last year.
Like its sister vessels, Grace and Joy will be 443 feet in length and have a higher percentage of 300-square feet suites, equating to 22 suites in total.
Onboard amenities include the restaurant Arthur’s, named after the line’s chairman Arthur Tauck, where passengers can choose from an extensive selection of delightful culinary offerings.
What’s more, the ships will also feature eight loft cabins whereby the seating area is raised and boasts more space than traditional lower deck cabins.
Tauck provides guests with river cruises, guided tours and small ship ocean cruises. Originally based in Connecticut, the family owned and operated line opened its first London office earlier this year in a bid to attract UK holidaymakers.
