Royal Caribbean Send Ovation Down Under

We’ve just found out that Ovation of the Seas, Royal Caribbean’s billion-dollar mega-ship will be making Sydney, Australia her home port when she launches in 2016.

Currently under construction in Germany the $1 billion ship will be the largest vessel ever to call Australia home! It will steal the crown from the current title holder Voyager of the Seas with a passenger capacity of only 3,800 (when did 3,800 passengers become only?)

To put the size of the ship into perspective; if stood on its end it would reach just over one of the tallest buildings in the world (Anon Centre- Chicago).

That’s also equivalent to more than three football fields long!

It has over 18 decks and has the capacity to hold 5,000+ guests and 1,500 crew members. We’ve visited towns smaller than that!

Ovation of the Seas in due to be based at Sydney’s Oversea’s passenger terminal in Circular Quay. At the moment the ship is too big to fit under the harbour bridge so the terminal will undergo a ‘major’ upgrade in able to cater her.

Ovation of the Seas, along with her sister ships Quantum and Anthem, is heralded as the most technologically advanced ship in the word and will completely redefine the experience of cruising around Australia

Our favourite highlights are…

Ripcord Fly – A thrill seeking simulator that allows passengers to experience skydiving on-board.

North Star Aerial – Rises more than 90 metres, reaching higher than the pylons on Sydney Harbour Bridge!

Bionic Bar – A futuristic experience meaning no bartender in sight… Two robots will mix and shake your cocktails.

Will you be visiting Oz to experience a cruise on Ovation Of The Seas? Leave us a comment ‘down under’….
