Royal Caribbean Send Another Ship To The Far East

Royal Caribbean have just confirmed that their third Quantum-class vessel, Ovation of the Seas, will be heading to China in 2016.

The keel laying ceremony for RCI’s latest megaship took place March 5th with the ship due to be launched in April 2016, the same month that Harmony of the Seas is due to be launched.

Before heading out to the far east, Ovation of the Seas will enjoy three sailings out of Southampton;

  • A five-night trip visiting France and Belgium
  • A seven-night trip calling at Spain, Channel Islands and Paris
  • A seven-night from England to Barcelona

After that she will undertake a huge 52 night sailing from Southampton to Tianjin, where Ovation of the Seas will be based, cementing Royal Caribbean’s dedication to cruises around Asia.

Other Royal Caribbean ships that will be sailing Asian waters are Quantum of the Seas, Mariner of the Seas, Voyager of the Seas and Legend of the Seas.

Quantum and Mariner will be sailing from Shanghai, while Voyager will sail from Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Cruise Port. Legend of the Seas will be joining Ovation in Tianjin for a short while before moving to its new home port of Xiamen.

Royal Caribbean’s CEO, Michael Bayley, is very excited about RCI’s expansion into Asian waters;

“Cruising has become very popular for Chinese consumers and Royal Caribbean is already capturing their imaginations with our industry-leading cruise ships. We are furthering our commitment by bringing two of the world’s newest and most advanced Quantum-class cruise ships to the region. In addition, we are significantly expanding our investment in the training and employment of Chinese talent so they can join us in delivering our amazing and distinctive vacations to Chinese travellers.”
