Norwegian Cruise Line have just announced their brand new project for a class of ships that will be cutting edge… quite literally!
The new ships will be a new shape to their old vessels and incorporate an eye catching design that will see the vessels slice through the waves. The sharp edge on the front of the ships is even set to give the Celebrity Edge a run for its money! (And you can read all about the Celebrity Edge here!)
It is hoped that the new design will help lower fuel consumption and reduce the impact that cruising has on the environment and the ships are going to be built in the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy.
NCL’s Managing Director for Europe, Christian Boll, said: “The new, breath-taking design will offer our guests a flexible on-board experience with an incredible array of offerings and further integrates inside and outside spaces, so they feel more connected with the sea.”
Norwegian Cruise Line have currently ordered four ships for the Leonardo Class which will all be mid to large sized vessels that can carry 3,300 passengers. They are set to be released in 2022 and promise an exciting future for NCL.
Further details about the new vessels will be released in due course. The last new ship to launch for NCL was the Norwegian Escape which had her maiden voyage in 2015. The cruise line currently have 15 ships and 2 additional ships to the Leonardo project are also on order.
