Investigative Journalist On The QM2

Yesterday a new partnership was announced between Cunard and The New York Times to offer some of its most prestigious journalist’s as speakers for part of its long- running insights programme. This exclusive offering will launch on Queen Mary 2 on January 3rd 2016.

The impressive line-up of The New York Times experts will consist of:

 

Clyde Haberman – A former foreign correspondent columnist

John Schwartz– A science writer

David Cay Johnston– Pulitzer prize winning investigate journalist

Michael Schmidt– National security reporter

Peter Lewis– Former senior writer at The New York Times and Fortune Magazine

 

Some of the subjects spoken about will be national security; climate change; the space programme; economics; tax issues; sports; technology; journalism in general and the laws of the ancient world.

Passengers interested in the subjects listed above will enjoy unique access to a wealth of research and insights from the some of the world’s leading experts.

For those guests who want to delve deeper into The New York Times, an exclusive pre cruise and on-board package for the 3rd Jan Queen Mary 2 transatlantic sailing is available for purchase. The programme includes tours of the newsroom and brunch at The New York Times offices prior to sailing, along with additional on board elements! Cunard was the first line to provide passengers with guest lectures concerning a wide variety of disciplines and have been doing so since the programme was first launched in 1970.

 

Did You Know: Cunard, who are celebrating their 175th anniversary this year, can trace the origins of the programme back to the days when the likes of Noel Coward and Cole Porter would enjoy transatlantic crossings and entertain guests in after-dinner salons with anecdotes from their travels and various experiences.
