If You Won The Lottery What’s The First Thing You’d Book?

We’ve probably all entered a prize draw at some point; the hopes of winning a big cash prize is often too alluring to turn down, especially if all the entry requires is a tweet, text or email. The question is, what kind of holiday could you find yourself on if you won?

Depending on what you’re looking for there are a lot of things you could do with, say, £30,000. A World Cruise is always a good choice for the adventurous traveller but there’s more to it than that! With so many different world crises available which destinations would you have to do?

A World Cruise

Ever wanted to see the world? There are some sights that you simply must see; witnessing Christ the Redeemer slowly come into view as you near Rio, sailing past Sydney’s famous Opera House, the incredible Hong Kong skyline by night, all of these and so much more are essential for every travel fan to experience.

So how does it sound to spend 120 days waking up to new scenery every morning? If that sounds as heavenly to you as we think it does, you just might be interested in a World Cruise…

Most world cruises take a west to east direction – here’s what we’d like to see…

Leaving from Southampton our first destination would be New York, the Big Apple. Seeing the Statue of Liberty and the rest of the New York skyline appear on the horizon is a fantastic start to any cruise and with a World Cruise you know there’s only more amazing sights to come.

Sailing down towards South America, visiting the Dominican Republic and Barbados on the way, you’ll find yourself mouth-agape at the sight of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which is as we said, an incredible sight every travel lover simply must see. That’s without mentioning everything else Rio has to offer: Carnival, beautiful white beaches, blazing sun – definitely an excursion highlight on any cruise.

After that we’d want to see the southernmost points of South America, including Ushuaia, which is regarded as the southernmost city in the world thanks to a population of 64,000. While in Ushuaia we’d visit Tierra del Fuego National Park, the first National Park in Argentina and a gorgeous locale complete with glaciers, waterfalls, forests, mountains… If that’s not enough of a reason to go, try taking the train there – the Tren del Fin del Mundo – translated as End of the World Train. Quite a fitting name, considering the location!

We’d then want to cruise round Cape Horn before heading towards the Chilean Easter Island – a world renowned island in no small part thanks to the famous Easter Island Heads!

moai

Cruising to picturesque French Polynesia is a highlight of any cruise itinerary in no small part thanks to warm weather, gorgeous beaches, incredible views, quaint hotel huts… The scenery looks like something straight from the holiday of our dreams!

Jumping overto the other side of the world we find ourselves in New Zealand, which would just have to be a stop on our dream world cruise, home to some of the most nerve-wracking extreme sports we can possibly think of – Bungee Jumping, Skydiving, Snowboarding, Mountain Biking and even intense jet boat rides. You can actually do all five of these in a single day thanks to 5X1NZ, Tourism New Zealand’s extreme sports package – only real adrenaline junkies need apply!

Even if jumping out of a helicopter isn’t your idea of fun, you can’t deny that New Zealand has some absolutely incredible landscapes – although you could just say you’re visiting Middle Earth (both the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings were filmed in New Zealand).

We’re at the halfway point now but whilst we’re down here we’d definitely want to visit Sydney, Australia.

Surely we don’t need to tell you about Sydney, the Opera House is gorgeous, the sun is shining, there’s a shrimp on the barby… An essential stop in any itinerary, especially if you fancy visiting Ramsey Street!

sydney

We’re already more than halfway around the world, having explored North America, South America and Oceania; time to see the most exotic parts of the Far East! We’d enjoy some fancy food in Malaysia, experience the hustle and bustle of the most populated city in the world – Shanghai – and marvel at the incredible Hong Kong skyline!

Vietnam and Cambodia are incredible places to visit and if you can’t cruise down the Mekong then an excursion is the next best thing! Rich history, rich culture, rich food (if you can stomach it!) and some utterly unforgettable landmarks…

Floating village and rock islands in Halong Bay, Vietnam, Southeast Asia

But of course no trip to this part of the world is complete without a stop in Singapore. This beautiful bustling city has delicious food, an amazing skyline and the Singapore Flyer puts the London Eye to shame with the views it offers!

Singapore`s business district

Now we wrap up Asia; Sri Lanka, India, Oman until we find ourselves in Luxor, Egypt. There might not be any pyramids here but remnants of the Ancient Egyptians are still here with sculptures, statues and monuments making this excursion one you definitely don’t want to miss!

luxor

After cruising through the man-made Suez Canal you’ll find yourself in more familiar territory; the Eastern Med is a holiday favourite for millions of Brits but we’re not sure everyone has visited Galilee, Nazareth or Jerusalem, the holy land for many religions. Ever thought about visiting the walking grounds of Jesus himself? A hotbed of faith that is certainly an essential and spiritual excursion for the religious of non-believers alike.

jerusalem

A few stops in Mediterranean ports later and you’re back in Southampton! Around the world in 120 days – might not be as fast as a hot air balloon but we’re sure even Phileas Fogg would agree that it’s best to take your time and see the sights…
