Disney Cruise Lines and MSC Cruises have both made changes that will affect families with small children.
MSC has announced that it will be improving the experience children have while onboard its ships by offering childcare equipment and toys to families travelling with infants.
In addition, there will be dedicated areas for children on a number of the firm’s ships. The new offerings are a result of MSC’s partnership with baby care manufacturer Chicco.
Over at Disney, there are different changes that will affect families as the company has decided to raise the minimum age of babies permitted on its ships from 12 weeks to six months, according to Cruise Critic.
This means from January 2015 parents of babies aged less than six months will not be able to travel with the cruise line. For longer sailings, including transatlantic crossings, the minimum age has been raised to one year.
A Disney spokeswoman told the website: “We continually review our policies and made adjustments from time to time as needed …. These minimum age restrictions are consistent with cruise industry standards.”
