Cruise Lines Respond To Brussels Terrorist Attacks

European river cruise lines have responded to the recent terrorist attacks in Brussels.

The attack took place Tuesday morning and shook the Belgian capital, causing a tragic loss of life after bombs exploded at the airport and on the metro.

River cruise lines that sail in Europe have answered concerns from passengers worried about travelling to Belgium in such turbulent times.

Viking River Cruises have said “The safety and security of our guests and crew is always our top priority, and along with our local partners, we will continue to monitor the situation closely in the coming days.” They are currently working with guests who were booked on flights set to land in Brussels airport which has currently been closed after the tragic attack.

Scenic cruises have explained that guests will be transferred from Paris to Amsterdam by coach as rail links have now been suspended.

AmaWaterways issued a statement to say: “AmaWaterways does not currently have any guests in Belgium. We start with the first Tulip Time Cruise on March 27 in Amsterdam, which is scheduled to enter Belgium (Antwerp) on March 30. We are considering re-routing this itinerary and to only focus on the Netherlands. In this case, we may offer tours to Ghent and Bruges from Dutch ports for those guests who still would like to visit those cities. We will add one additional trained security staff member on-board.

”We will also allow our passengers who would like to cancel their Tulip Time Cruise, to switch to another AmaWaterways cruise in 2016, without penalties.”

APT have said: “No guests travelling with APT, Travelmarvel, Botanica World Discoveries or Captain’s Choice were at the airport or metro station at the time of the explosions. Any scheduled APT and Travelmarvel river cruises and land touring departures in Europe will operate as planned in the coming days and weeks.”

Passengers so far seem reassured that their safety has been put first by the cruise lines during this difficult time.
