Today marks the day when cruise lines officially have a record number of cruise ships on order over the next ten years with the major brands having over 40 new ships to enter service by 2026.

The list includes the game-changing Celebrity Edge and the world’s next largest cruise ship, Symphony of the Seas, so here is every ship you have to save for, look forward to and book in the near and distant future!

Carnival 

Carnival has the most cruise ships in their fleet than any other cruise line in the world with 25 ships under their belt. The line has four ships on order for the next five years including the largest vessel in their fleet:

-2018: Carnival Horizon at 133,500 GT and 4,200 passengers

-2019: 3rd Vista Class Ship at 133,500 GT and 4,200 passengers

-2020: LNG Powered Ship at 180,000 GT and 6,600 passengers

-2022: 2nd LNG Powered Ship at 180,000 GT and 6,600 passengers

Royal Caribbean has the second most cruise ships in their fleet with 24 ships, and will welcome another six ships over the next seven years:

-2018: Symphony of the Seas at 230,000 GT and 6,780 passengers

-2019:4th Quantum Class Ship at 168,666 GT and 4,200 passengers

-2020: 5th Quantum Class Ship at 168,666 GT with 4,200 passengers

-2021: 5th Oasis Class Ship at 230,000 GT with 6,780 passengers

-2022: 1st Icon Class Ship at 200,000 GT, with 5,000 passengers

-2024: 2nd Icon Class Ship at 200,000 GT and 5,000 passengers

symphony Newly Announced Details For Symphony of the Seas With news that Symphony could arrive earlier than the predicted date in April next year, details of the ship’s onboard features have been released!

 

Carnival Corporation, parent brand of mega lines such as P&O, Cunard, HAL and Princess, also announced their plans to remove one to two older, less efficient ships from its fleet on an annual basis.

This follows the recent news that P&O’s small ship, Adonia, would be moving over to Azamara Club Cruises shortly.
