24 Facts To Get You Even More Excited For MSC Meraviglia

2017 is the year of MSC Meraviglia, the ship to have three home ports (Genoa, Barcelona and Marseille), the ship to accommodate 5,714 guests, the ship to have had 1,800 people working on the construction of the ship’s hull alone, the ship for all seasons.

We’ve put together 25 facts you just have to know about MSC’s next ship to launch (June 2017), so prepare yourself for a vessel that boasts 33,000 square metres of public space, a 96-metre Mediterranean-style promenade with virtual sky and a bracelet that embarks and disembarks you from the ship…

Interior

1- All decks of the ship are named after the wonders of the world (as Meraviglia means ‘a wonder’ in Italian).

Design

2- The ship will be the 5th ship in MSC Cruises fleet to feature a Swarovski staircase

3- The longest LED Sky Screen at sea will be on the ship broadcasting atmospheric images and entertainment 24-hours a day

Construction

4- The ship is assembled by joining together 50 mega-blocks

5- Just the interior of the ship took over one year to complete

Entertainment

6- The 96 metre Mediterranean-style promenade will host three major parades each week

7-The Broadway Theatre is bigger than two and a half basketball courts and will seat 985 guests

8-The thermal area in the MSC Aurea Spa has 13 different areas, including the salt relax room, ice waterfall, sauna and dark sensory steam bath

9-There will be a fully equipped 570 square metres gym onboard with cutting-edge Technogym equipment

Pools And Aqua Park

10-The ship has more than 1,300 sun loungers free of charge, and the main pool has 22 sunbeds that ‘touch the water’, meaning guests can cool their feet in the pool

11-The ‘Himalayan Bridge’ which spans the ship will let guests climb up to 82 metres above sea level

Onboard Dining

12- The Marketplace Buffet is able to accommodate 1,345 guests with a total area of 3,550 square metres

13- The ship will feature the first chocolate atelier and creperie at sea by award-winning pastry chef, Jean Philippe Maury

14- A new flexible dining model will give guests more choice on where and when they dine (and can choose from eateries like an American steakhouse and a traditional English pub)

Accommodation

15- 75% of all cabins onboard have balconies (2,244 cabins in total)

16- Family cluster cabins can be joined together to accommodate up to 10 guests

17- 55 cabins have been specially designed for guests with reduced mobility

18- Guests will be able to shop from 300 top brands onboard, saving an average of 15% compared to downtown prices

Green Technology

19- Special systems on each of the engines allow the ship to save thousands of tonnes of fuel per year, lowering CO2 emissions

20- Guests of the MSC Yacht Club have direct access to a private 500 square metre solarium and pool on the 19th deck of the ship and an exclusive 130-seat private restaurant
