This would be my worst nightmare.

Picture this ,on a cruise of a lifetime that you had paid a lot of money for you had sailed out of Sydney to Dubai with stops in Melbourne and was just entering the Indian Ocean when suddenly the ship more or less closes down !!!! There would be a dusk-til-dawn ban on any fun on deck. No deck parties, no movies under the stars, no late-night outdoor bar hopping or pool dipping. No lights, no party atmosphere, no lapping up tropical breezes on their balconies. NIGHTMARE !!

Well this just happened on a Princess ship all around the ship when the sun set, all curtains were drawn and all shutters closed.Bright lights, which normally signal the presence of the cruse ship on the ocean, were dimmed or turned off altogether a total ghost ship it became.

What on earth happened ?????
Norovirus outbreak ? Terrorist attack ?

No they were preparing the ship for a potential pirate attack !!

Ever watched the film Captain Phillips well it would of been similar to this but on a far larger scale as this ship holds 1900 passengers .

The captain addressed the ship and apologized for alarming passengers he said the threat was real and the ship must be prepared for a pirate attack.

This went on for 10 days as the ship sailed through an area where the risk is high the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Sea, the Gulf of Aden and the Suez Canal.

I didn’t realize that this was still a problem as you dont hear much of this hitting the headlines !!! All ships have emergency plans in place in case the incident should unfold.
There have been six reported attempts of pirates attacking cruise ships over the past 12 years .The fact remains that while yachts have been kidnapped and cargo vessels have been hijacked for ransom, there has never been a successful pirate attack on a cruise ship. Most cruise ships are capable of outrunning the small skiffs used by pirates.

Thankfully there were no pirate attacks to report on the itinerary it must of been scary though !!!!
