Sunbeds at sea

sunbeds 1

People think it’s just the hotels that have German holidaymakers that have sunbed hogging !!
I have never heard so many comments about the shortage of sunbeds on ships as I have this summer. Here are some of the comments I have come across.
‘The main faults I found were the sunbed wars.’

‘ It was truly comical to have to try and out manoeuvre the sunbed mafia.’

‘ If you want a sunbed near the poolside, especially the quiet adult pool then be prepared to get there for 7.30am and stay there.’

‘ A fight nearly broke out when someone tried to move a sunbed and security was called. ‘

‘A big down side was insufficient sun beds for the number of passengers on board which resulted in some passengers having to lay on towels on the sun decks for a large part of the day until one became available. This in turn led to some passengers falling out with each other and in one case a fight took place over a sunbed… Not very nice sight. ‘

On a positive note I have also been told about the removal of towels on sunbeds when they had been left unattended.

The German’s always get the blame at hotels for being up at the crack of dawn and claiming the best sunbeds but not at sea !!!!
It is us Brits that are the problem though whilst at sea as it seems to be the ships that sail out of the UK have the worst reports of it.
I can honestly say I have never had a problem getting a sunbed whilst at sea , maybe not directly by the pool but that’s fine by me.

What’s the answer ? Is there a solution ? Do cruise staff do enough to stop the hogging of beds ?
