Great news for the British Market

Well after the rough few weeks we have had in the travel industry it was great to receive two lots of excellent news for the uk cruise market this week. The Celebrity Edge which is the latest release launching late 2018 in the Caribbean is due to sail into Southampton and then be based out of Europe for 2019. When we first found out the ‘Edge’ would be based out in the Caribbean I would be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed.

The Edge will do a transatlantic cruise back to Southampton at the end of April 2019 From there, it will offer seven, nine, 10 or 11-night sailings from Rome and Barcelona. The ports of call have been planned to appeal to Celebrity’s modern luxury market. The ports of call include Monte Carlo, Capri and Mykonos as well as overnight stays in places like Ibiza and Valencia.
The ship will also visit two brand new ports – Nauplion in the Peloponnese region of Greece and Santa Margherita, on the Italian Riviera close to Portofino.In total between May and October 2019 the Edge will sail to 30 ports of call in 10 countries.
The Celebrity Edge is the first of 5 ships of this class to be launched and we hear if the 2019 med sailings are successful there is a chance that we will get one of this class of ship based out of Southampton which is welcome news to us !!!
The Edge design is ultra modern and is supposedly set to leave the future behind.
Celebrity designer Kelly Hoppen takes on her first ever ship commission and the theme of the ship is outward facing.The cabins are more spacious and a high proportion of the balcony cabins have ‘Infinite Veranda’s , which combines indoor and outdoor space in one area. The balcony can be closed off from the rest of the cabin with bi-fold doors , or the bi-fold doors can be left open. There are many more exciting enhancements on this ship.

The second piece of great news is that Royal Caribbeans latest ship the ‘Symphony of the seas’ is launching earlier than expected. Which has created 3 extra sailings starting with a 5 night cruise out of Barcelona on the 31st March 18.
