Sailing into 2018

By the time this is published I will be on board P&O Aurora on a 5 night Cruise to Hamburg for the New Year. These short breaks are something I have been doing for the last few years with friends and family and is a great way to celebrate.

We leave Southampton on 29^th December followed by a day at Sea on 30^th December and then 31^st December we will arrive into Hamburg. The ship is there overnight and then sails onto Zeebrugge on 2^nd January and arrives back to Southampton on 3^rd January. The atmosphere onboard is always lively as everyone is still in the party spirit after Christmas and you don’t have to worry about where to go to bring in the New Year as all the venues onboard have entertainment on. The best thing is not having to wait for a taxi at the end of the night to take you home and having to pay an arm and a leg for it because it is holiday time.

I will be travelling with my husband, my  sister and her husband and a friend with her husband and  their daughter and her Fiancé. We are all looking forward to having a day in Hamburg as none of us have been there before and if last years antics are anything to go by I’m sure we will be visiting a few of the local watering holes like we did in Amsterdam.

Hamburg also hosts  Firework displays on New Year’s Eve and the 2 biggest ones take place directly adjacent to the Water’s Edge so hopefully we will have a great view from the top deck of the ship at Midnight. The Fireworks in the harbour in the vicinity of the  Landungsbrucken is supported acoustically by the signal horns of all the ships so will be interesting to watch.
