Wedding in Cyprus…

I have just returned from my friends wedding in Paphos Cyprus and what a lovely time we all had.

The bride choose a fantastic hotel in Paphos called the Olympic Lagoon resort which was a 5 star All Inclusive venue with lots of specialty restaurants and adult pools and swim up bars.

I traveled with my friends and left the kids behind and I must admit as much as I love my little squirrels it was very nice to have a few days of peace and relaxation.

The actual wedding didn’t take place in the hotel as my friend decided to marry in a little courtyard venue over looking plush gardens and amazing views for miles.

She had been planning every detail for more then a year but the one thing that she could not plan for was the almighty thunderstorm and rain that hit us right in the middle of the day at the time she was supposed to get married.

We were all gutted for her but the organisers were very good and made a sharp decision to move us into a little taverna type building across the road. They ended up getting hitched in there, which wasn’t quite what she had dreamed but the ceremony was really beautiful and as we said to her the main point was that she was married and that we could celebrate in style…as soon as the clouds and rain disappeared.

Eventually after half an hour or so the skies cleared and we headed over to the private yacht that she had hired for the evening reception.

Once again the weather played its part and we couldn’t actually sail out of the port but we made the best of it and had a fantastic party with lots of drinking and dancing.

All in all my friend enjoyed her wedding day and didn’t let the grey sky’s hamper her spirits and we were just all so glad to be there and celebrate her special day with her.

The rest of the holiday the weather was very mixed blue sky’s and sunshine in the morning but it became very cold and windy by midday.

It also got dark by about 4 o clock which does make an impact as I like to lie by the pool until late evening.

In hind sight getting married so late in the year in Cyprus may not be the greatest choice and I would definitely recommend to go slightly earlier to get the most out of your holiday.

I cant complain though as I had some amazing food and managed to sample every cocktail on the menu which is the one good bonus of having an early sunset……there is only one thing left to do once the sun bathing ends and that’s drink cocktails  , eat and laugh and that’s just what we did.
