Now here comes Maria…….

Just when we thought the Caribbean had taken all it could take along comes Hurricane Maria hot on the heels of Irma.

Those poor , poor people who are effected its just so awful and must be devastating for those who are having to deal with it all right on their doorstep.

The Hurricane Maria is now a rapidly intensifying storm that has gained major hurricane status since yesterday and as a result cruise lines have started to adjust the itineraries in the region.

Carnival Glory, Carnival Magic and Carnival Fascination, as well as Royal Caribbean’s Adventure of the Seas and Allure of the Seas all have been rerouted to avoid the storm. A number of ships, including MSC Divina and Celebrity Equinox, already had switched to Western Caribbean itineraries this week, in the wake of Hurricane Irma.

Hurricane Maria, which has maximum sustained wind speeds of 160 miles per hour, is expected to reach the U.S. and British Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico Tuesday night into Wednesday.

I’ve had a few calls from people today who are understandably very nervous about travelling on their future cruise and wondering what is the best thing to do. Even people travelling as far off as February or March have contacted me and I have tried to reassure them that the cruise lines have their best interests at heart.

The honest answer at the moment is that to sit tight and see what the next few weeks / months bring. For sailings for next year the situation will be carefully monitored and if the cruise line feel the need to change itinerary and routes then as your agent we will be there asap to advise you and help you make the right decision with what to do.

Fingers crossed these islands can be restored and helped in to returning back to the islands of paradise that we ll know and love so these local people can get back to what they love and enjoy tourists visiting their islands.

My thoughts really do go out to them out this time and lets just hope this weather calms down and lets everyone see the back of these storms for good.
