Is Trump turning you off ??

2016 what a funny old year its turned out to be what with Brexit , Honey G and the Americans choosing Donald Trump as the next President….and it’s not even over yet !!!

As we know from recent press it has been somewhat of a controversial decision and has really divided the country in opinion. Will he do a good job or will this be the end of the world as we know it…only time will tell.

I was shocked to discover though that the election result has already started to have an effect on us travel agents in the UK with agents reporting in the press that they had already started to receive cancellations and changing holiday plans to avoid the states.

Some have reported that people on the cusp of booking cruises to New York have changed direction completely and booked other itineraries and some even preparing to cancel and lose several hundreds pounds in the process.

The new President could mean that Britons delay booking their Stateside holidays until the dust settles – or even consider switching to an alternative destination, such as Canada.

I think it’s a shame that people would let trump put them off because it’s such a fantastic country to visit .

One of my favorite packages is doing the trans Atlantic on the Queen Mary with a few nights in New York.

It’s a beautiful ship seeped in history and has real elegance with charm and sophistication onboard. A throwback to traditional cruising before robots at sea were all the rage.

After spending seven night on board the cherry on the top is having a few nights in New York to see all the touristy sights and sample some fabulous restaurants and most importantly lots of great shopping.

If you are a holiday maker and you don’t agree with his views and policies then this may possibly put you off going there but I think the deciding factor will all come down to what the dollar is worth against the pound, and how far people’s spending will be able to go – that will be the greatest influence.

I personally think don’t let the destination be judged by the quality and suitability of its leader – or if this was the case we may never leave the four walls of our homes again.

Lets support America by still visiting their shores and supporting tourism…after all I think they have been through quite enough over this year don’t you .
