Shhh kids ………..

screams

Having just recently returned back from my family holiday to Cyprus I had to laugh at the latest headlines about the Airline introducing the new ‘child free zones ‘ on all their flights.

I am that family with the three kids in tow getting on the aircraft with all the couples praying to God that we don’t sit next to them!!!

To be fair my three children were actually really well behaved on the flight to Cyprus. It’s quite a long one at four and a half hours but with the help of I Pads, Nintendo DS , Peppa Pig colouring books and stickers we made it to the other side without any serious meltdowns.

Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case with large families travelling and I think we can all at one time safely say that we have been on an aircraft with a screaming child and wondered what on earth the parents were doing.

I flew on an EasyJet flight once and the little girl would not put her seatbelt on after 15 minutes of gentle persuasion from her mom she still wasn’t budging and it was holding the flight up . In the end the air stewardess had enough and came in and took control but you did feel for the mom with the whole aircraft staring at her.

The Indian budget airline Indigo has decided to adopt a quite Zone policy for its premium seats, meaning that children under the age of 12 aren’t allowed to sit in those areas. As you can imagine there is a real mixed bag reaction to this with some people thinking it’s a great idea and others that are highly offended.

I personally agree with it as if you are prepared to pay for this privilege then why not. A few extra pounds to guarantee no one kicking the back of your chair or screaming down your ear is money well spent.

The airline have said :  : ‘Keeping in mind the comfort and convenience of all passengers, row numbers one to four and 11 to 14 are generally kept as a Quiet Zone on IndiGo flights.

‘These zones have been created for business travellers who prefer to use the quiet time to do their work.’
I think this probably won’t be adopted by many if any other airlines so us families don’t have too much to worry about.
