We Love Manchester 10K…we did it!!!…

….and what a fantastic day it was too, such a sense of achievement. As you probably guessed I took part last weekend in the We Love Manchester 10k run, along with my sister and friend. It was a really great day and the atmosphere was the best it has ever been.

I can’t say the run was easy, in fact far from it! I was praying for cloud or even rain on the morning, running in the sun is so much harder. As we set off at 930 it was almost as if someone switched on the sun!! …it was beaming down on us…and it continued to do so. I can safely say it was one of the toughest 10K’s I’ve done and I have to say a special thank you to my sister for getting me round….we ran together and she was there to keep me motivated even when I felt I couldn’t do anymore!

We were over the moon with how much money we raised for breast cancer care, around £600 and we were so proud to be part of such an amazing event in our city of Manchester. Even the Manchester Bee was there supporting the event.

As you can see from our photos we were dressed in pink tutus, glitter and gems and of course our charity vests. We got lots of cheers and encouragement from the crowds along the way. There were so many other people dressed up for the run, there was Spiderman, Batman, there were teddy bears….I really felt for those in the big costumes in the heat but they made it round..hats off to them!

We had our photo taken with the winner, this man ran 10k in 32 minutes!! How that is even possible. so impressive…it took us twice as long!

The kids really loved it, especially taking part in the toddler trot! They got their own race number pinned to them and they were split into age groups. They did one lap of the running track whilst we watched and cheered!

So will we be doing the same again next year, I think the answer is yes, and we are already looking for another run for later in the year. I know I always say this after a race but this time I will definately be keeping it up! I’ve been out since the race and plan to keep going with my training.

thanks as always for reading and I hope you enjoy the photos.
