P&O’s latest ban…..

Following on from my last blog about P&O’s changes to their alcohol policy there were also other changes to their dress code policy. This policy states that as from the 1 January 2018 they will no longer allow any kind of novelty, fancy dress or personalised clothing to be worn by passengers.

So what does this mean to your cruise…well I’m guessing that most of you won’t be overly affected by this change but of course there will be some passengers who are not too happy….mainly those perhaps thinking of a short cruise for say a hen party or birthday cruise. Over the past years there has definitely been a big increase in groups booking these short cruises for hen and stag parties, for birthday celebrations. Some customers who have been on a short mini cruises have returned saying that sometimes they have felt like they were on board a party cruise…which for those who are part of the party isn’t a bad thing, it’s those who are not that aren’t too happy with this.

Is this new policy P&O’s way of reducing these types of groups booking, are they trying to steer their short mini cruises away from the party cruise reputation that does seem to be growing and growing.  Or are P&O just trying to get back to the traditional way of cruising, and this is a way of creating that atmosphere on board their ships.

Over the past week as I have been booking new customers on P&O cruises I have been advising of the new policy and I have to say there hasn’t been a great deal of feedback other than my customers not seeming too concerned about it. I haven’t yet spoken to anyone looking to book a cruise for one of these types of events….however with this ban on any fancy dress along with the new alcohol policy will it put them off booking a P&O mini cruise? Will they still choose P&O or will they look at another cruise line?

What do you think? Would you be put off cruising with P&O as a result of this new dress code policy? Do you agree with P&O…are they going along the right path? As always I would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks for reading Abbi x
