P&O leave my customers disappointed to say the least….

After recently chatting to a regular customer of mine about the P&O cruise they had just returned from it saddened me that for the first time since I began booking their cruises three years ago this was the first time they had been really disappointed with the cruise.

P&O as a cruise line had come highly recommended to them by friends and they were really excited at the prospect of sailing with them for the first time. They have cruised with Princess, with Cunard, with Royal Caribbean and Thomson and I have booked them all and each time they have returned with nothing but positive feedback.

They were disappointed with the food on board in both the main dining room and the buffet. The food in their words was “bland” and “tasteless”, and there was a lack of choice in both the main dining room and also the buffet. To top this off the service they found to be terrible too, in fact the worst service they have ever had. One example was that on one particular evening the waiter was serving the starters to their table , seven of the passengers got their starter and the eighth passenger didn’t get theirs until the others had finished and their plates were being cleared. Main were being served whilst others were still eating their starters. My customer seemed to think there was an problem with communication and that a lot of things being said weren’t actually understood.

Room service wasn’t any better, on ordering breakfast to the cabin there were no cups for the tea, there was no toast, no butter, they had to call and ask for them to bring these to their cabin after the breakfast had been delivered, very poor by the sound of it.

Entertainment was also really poor in their opinion and in fourteen nights there was just one show they enjoyed, the rest they said were awful. So much so that they took to entertaining themselves and the other passengers on their table in the balcony cabin and enjoyed little parties just the eight of them.

Luckily they had decided to upgrade their usual balcony cabin to a superior balcony with extra space and in my customers words this was the only saving grace.

In their opinion the Thomson cruises they have been on were far superior to this one with P&O, better food, better service, better entertainment.

Have P&O let their standards slip so low? Have you cruised recently with P&O? What did you think, do you agree? Next time I will give you one of my customers glowing reports of a P&O cruise they have just returned from! Which do you agree with are P&O fantastic or are their standards really slipping!

I would as always love to hear your thoughts.
