Entertainment let down……

Last week I was chatting to one of my customers who had just returned from a two week caribbean cruise with Celebrity. My customer last cruised with Celebrity around two years ago and came back full of positive feedback having really enjoyed the cruise. This time however he was left disappointed to say the least and the reason why???…..the entertainment on board the ship!

Celebrity as you may know are a five star cruise line and my customer was on board one of their newer Solstice class ships. Celebrity have a great reputation in the world of cruising and passengers expect high stanards . On any five star cruise line there are high expectation from all aspects of ythe cruise…from dining, accommodation, service and of course entertainment. Entertainment on board a ship is so important and for many it can make or break their cruise! For my customer he felt so let down by poor entertainment! The shows….three of which were repeat perfomances from his last cruise on board a different Celebrity ship a couple of years ago were very disappointing. In the theatre one evening there was a solo violinist and she played for around 40 minutes and nothing more. There was an uninspiring commedian, who was actually booed off the stage! You begin to get the picture and according to my customer and others he spoke to on board it was all way below any standard you would excpect from a Celebrity cruise. He came to the conclusion that lots of cuts had been made and far too many in his eyes to provide guests with entertainment worthy of a 5 star cruise line.

When thinking of show stopping and unique entertainment options Royal Caribbean are the cruise line that spring to mind for me. Whilst on board with Royal Caribbean you can enjoy full West End style shows including Saturday Night Fever, We Will Rock You, Grease , Cats and not to forget the very popular Mamma Mia. Customers come back from these shows and have nothing but positive feedback, they go down so well and rival any of the west end shows they have seen at home! Standards are set so high on board with Royal Caribbean entertainment wise and they don’t disappoint.

On board Oasis, Harmony and Allure of the Seas you have the amazing Aquatheatre. Again it’s an amazing venue where you can see acrobatics, lightshows, snychronised swimming and more!

An experience unique to Royal Caribbean and one passengers love . From TWO 70 to the Ice Shows to the Robotic bar tenders and so much more Royal Caribbean have certainly pulled out all the stops entertainment wise.

Is it time that Celebrity upped their game and introduced some new and exciting entertainment. In the eyes of my customer until they do this he won’t be sailing with them again, he would prefer to perhaps look at one of the 4 star ships offering lots of entertainment choices . Celebrity are a fantastic cruise line with so many positives and I personally thinks it’s such a shame to hear feedback such as this. Perhaps it was a one off on board this cruise, perhaps cuts have meant that standards have slipped massively and perhaps it’s down to personal taste.
